Saturday morning. Way early in fact. There will be a critique group meeting at the Wellington library and I do plan on being there. I look forward to doing some reading and listening there. My friend Caryn will lead the meeting. Not sure if there will be a guest lecturer there, but the meeting itself is always entertaining and educational. I learn something new every time I go.
I just checked the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories site a few minutes ago and still no contest. I am very patient about this though as I would like to be in Celeste Jenkins position. she is the 2011 winner of the contest with her story, “The Lost (and Found) Balloon”. So I will keep on checking to see when the new contest will start up. When I find out, I will let you guys know right here.
Decisions, decisions, always decisions. Do I clean the house, do I write or do I do both. The answer this time is I just simply write. I have been doing the cleaning for the past week and now I need to write. It is my blood! Writing that is. I can never get it out of my blood. Nor would I want to. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So today I did something different. I wrote some song lyrics and add them to my now poetry chapbook/ song book. I figured I do something different. I was listening Jimmy Buffet’s Margarita Ville channel on Sirius XM. And I got inspired to write Jimmy Buffet style of song. I had a lot of fun with it too. And speaking of fun I had better go back to writing my novel. So until next time…William out!
Or actually I should say good morning! I hope that your day will go well. This early morning I am faced with a decision. Write or clean the house! I debated the two options for a few minutes. Write in the middle of all this clutter. Or clean and write at the same time. You see I am not a fan of cleaning. It is not one of my favorite things to do. But on the other hand I do like a place that is neat so I decided on the latter. I set goals tonight to do both. So now that I have done the cleaning portion for tonight here I am sitting in front of the computer pounding away at the keyboard.
I didn’t attend my Boca Raton critique group because id decided to do some more writing. I will make every attmpt to attend the Welling meeting though. That will be in the first week of April. I checked out the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories site today and do far no change. I will keep up with that though and post back here if something happens.
Been keeping with the poetry writing. One of these days soon I would like to publish my poetry chapbook. As of right now though I keep coming up with ideas and writing them down. I would like my poems to be a bit stronger before I go to the next level.
I have been organizing my sci-fi story ” A Change in Time”. I have been using the program Scrivener to make the organizational changes to my core outline. I have been writing the scenes to these plot points in the core outline.
1. Inciting Incident.
2. Plot point 1.
3. Pinch point 1.
4. Mid Point
5. Pinch Point 2.
6. Plot point 3.
7. Black Moment
Once these are written then I have the core for my first draft and I can fill in those scenes in between the plot points thus creating my first draft. Let me tell this has been a fun project. A lot of work but fun. Well guys I have to go for now so until nest time…William out!
Hello fellow writers! I have some good news. My haiku horror poem “Sharp Tongue” got an honorable mention on the Necon E-Books web site! I submitted the poem as a part of January’s haiku horror month. Here is the link. This is my first publishing credit and I am very excited about it! I hope that this will be the first of many publishing credits in my writing career. The Necon E-book people are very nice and professional.
I didn’t get a chance to go to my Boca Critique group due to a dinner commitment with my family, but I will go in the near future. The next critique group meeting will be in Wellington FL in two weeks so at least I will have more time to write stuff. I have been checking in on the Cheerios Spoonful of stories web site for any updates and so far nothing is going on there. I will keep on checking that sire out.
The past few days have been spent working, writing, and cleaning house. And not necessarily in that order. I work when I must, clean when I can, but I love to write. This is the order of which I have been doing things. So it is written and so it shall be done! Excuse me that is the Pharaoh coming out of me. Thank goodness my heart is not hardened! I would be in a lot of trouble!
Let’s see do I want to clean or write? Answer is both…somehow…So until next time…William out!
gave me this link about Facebook. The article covers how you can expand your social presence on Facebook. It is quite a good read. I hope that you like it! The name of the article is How to Build a Facebook Fan base by Monday.
I have to go now so until next time… William out!
To all my fellow writers, a most wonderful and blessed evening to you! Yesterday’s critique group meeting at the Wellington library was quite a success, with several writers, myself included, got a chance to read their stuff. I have said this in the past that our group is very talented and I am very thankful to be a part of such a group. Caryn our group leader and local director of the Florida Writer’s Association did a wonderful job.
As I said I got a chance to read a page from my Sci-fi story “A Change in Time” and it was generally well received. It was pointed out that I had a couple of POV issues regarding the page that I read. I corrected those issues today. This is the topic that I would like to touch on.
The gist of what I learned yesterday is I should stay (for the most part) with one point of view per chapter. Basically pick a character and use that characters POV for the chapter. If I do have to change POV in the same chapter then make it clear to the reader that there is a POV change, so as not to the confuse the reader. Obviously it is important that writer doesn’t confuse the reader if said writer wants to be successful. It does get easy to forget what POV I am in so it is always good to get that reality check by reading in front of a group of people.
I’m still checking to see when the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories is going to start. Once it does I will post here to let you guys know about it. I am also waiting to see the results of my submissions to Necon E-Books to see how well I’m doing there. I submitted so horror haiku’s there as that was the theme for the month. I will also check the WritersMarket.com for up coming events there as well. Here is some more horror haiku’s for you!
He sharpened the blade.
She got ready for the feast.
He served her instead.
Until next time…William out!
I hope that your day is going fine. Mine sure is. I have been submitting several Haiku’s to Necon E-Books monthly contest. This month’s theme is horror haiku’s. So I have been having fun with that. Let’s see maybe I can come up with something here.
He played with fire.
Now it is her desire.
That he burns in hell!
Here is another little poem.
She played with his heart.
He loaded his revolver.
Now she is no more.
Like I said. I had some fun with it and now I’m waiting for next month’s challenge. I have been checking to see when the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest will start. So far nothing there, but I will keep on checking. I have been working on my sci-fi story, but there is a new twist. I bought the writing program Scrivener! I must say that is a hell of a program. Now I am much more organized as a writer. I like the fact that I can view my document from the smallest point of view to the largest. There are quite a few good options regarding that program. I have a smile on my face when I sit down to writer now because I am able to write more effectively.
I will be attending the Wellington Critique group meeting this Thursday. I hope read this go around. I must say that the talent at these group meetings are exceptional to say the least. I will report here on the blog how the meeting goes. It will be very nice to see my writer friends again.
Well I have to go for now so until next time…William out!
