Good evening everyone! I hope that you guys are enjoying the holiday doing back yard cook outs and just being with family in general. And while you are doing that, please pause for a moment to remember our service men and women who are away from their families serving our country, and especially those men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice so we can be free as a people. May God bless and protect them from our enemies.
Did I score a writing contract with Simon as hustler? No something better! Yesterday was my Dad’s 92nd birthday! The family, mom, dad, sister and her daughter, my niece of course, gathered at the local Longhorn’s and had a wonderful time!
Dad was looking and feeling pretty good! Mind you that this is about 4 months after rehabbing for a partial hip replacement. I feel very blessed for yesterday. I rank the Good Lord that he is still around.
Now on the 26th it will be my birthday! I will be 61 years young! Damn time flies when you are having fun! Speaking of having fun, I have to get back to my other writing duties. So until next time…William out!
Once again it is yours truly William here. I hope that your week is going well. Usually I post one week apart or when I have something to write about. I am posting a little early this week. Which is not a bad thing. Just finished watching the American Idol grand finale in which Caleb Johnson won. I had an idea that he would win. I am sure that Jenna Irene will do well as she is quite talented.
I have been checking the Cheerios site and so far no dice. But I will keep on checking to see if the site goes live. I have and will continue to write children’s stories so I can submit them when the contest starts. I will be submitting to Necone Ebooks for this months 100 word contest. The theme for May is…What’s in your playlist? I will get to work on that soon, I have been working on my sci-fi story as well. This leads to me to my next topic…
I found a good writing educational blog site called Storyfix.com. I was having a problem with my sci-fi story plot structure. This site helped me to understand the nature of my problem. There is good deal of information about plot structure. So I recommend you guys check it out and see what you think. Well it is time I get back to my other writing projects…So until next time…William out!
I hope your evening is going well. Mine sure is. I have some news regarding Necone Ebooks 100 100 word story contest. They have now partnered with Lamplight Magazine. Regarding Necone Ebooks monthly 100 word contest. Lamplight’s Editor Jacob Haddon has joined the judging panel at Necone and will be judging future 100 word contests.
Now what will this mean for writers like me who are a part of the Necone community? It means if my submission either wins or gets honorable recognition, which I got last March, then the submission will be ipublished on Necone’s site, published in Necone’s year end anthology, and published in Lamplight Magazine. The idea is the writer will get more exposure for their work. Which is a good thing!
Still no news regarding the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest. I hope they have it this year. As I mentioned before it is a wonderful opportunity for an unpublished writer to get their career in writing started. I have been writing some children’s stories just in case the Cheerios site goes live.
I have also been working on my other projects as well. The Necone contest being one of them! This months theme is, “What’s in your play list?” The idea is you pick a song as your inspiration for a 100 word horror story. So I will have fun with this! Speaking of fun I had better get back to my other projects. So until next time…William out!
And I find myself in my bedroom with iPad in hand writing another post and enjoying every minute of it. I am still trying to find out when the next Cheerios Spoonful of Stories is going to start but still no dice. I am starting to get the feeling that the contest may not go on this year and that would be sad. This has happened in past years and I hope this will not be the case this year.
In any case I have been at work putting together some children’s stories for submission and I hope I will get the chance to do that! This has been where my focus has been, though I have not forgotten my other projects. I have been writing some poetry as well. Maybe I will submit those as well!
The idea of putting some my other projects on hold is so I can come back to them with a fresh eye and mind when I come back to them. Which is what I will do shortly. I want to thank you guys for reading my posts here. It gives meaning and purpose to what I do. Speaking of which…I must get back to my other writings…So until next time…William out!
I hope that your Friday evening is going well and that creative spirit is alive and kicking putting out great prose like no ones business… I have been busy researching the Writers Market looking up listings to submit to. I found a children’s writing site called, Childrenswriter.com. Basically they are a newsletter that discusses what is going on in the field of children’s writing. Every 6 months they have a writing contest with a different theme. Currently the grand prize is 500 dollars and publication in the Children’s Writer newsletter. I think the current contest runs until October. The current theme is seasonal poetry.
I have also been checking out the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories site and so far no dice as to when that contest will start. As you guys know, that is one of my favorite contests to enter because of the wonderful opportunity it gives to unpublished writers such as myself.
Now I have not forgotten about the other projects that I have started. That is the “How to’ book”, the Sci-fi story and writing poetry for the poetry chapbook. It is that I am getting geared up for another shot at the Spoonful of Stories contest. I sure do hope it starts up again!
So I had better get cracking! So until next time…William out!
