Bad Weather Day!

I was going to go to the Wellington critique group meeting today, but my ride canceled due to adverse weather conditions. You see a strong cold front is going through the West Palm Beach area causing several tornado watches and warnings to be issued. So I agreed with my friend Lisa that we should not be out in this weather. Besides it gives me more time to write anyway.

I’,m going to meet with my new cataract surgeon, tomorrow. It will be a get to know each other session. She will be doing laser surgery on my left eye in order to get rid of some left over scar tissue from the cataract surgery I had done last year. One question I will certainly ask is how many times has she done this procedure? Another question I will ask is her training background. What degrees she has etc… A third question would be the cost. To tell you the truth, that last question is a mute point as I must have the surgery anyway. In any case it should be interesting.

Now on to writing. This month I have been working on my sci-fi story “A Change in Time”. I am working towards plot point two in the story. Now plot point two is the stage in the story where new information is revealed to the protagonist that would enable he, she or it to change from being reactive to proactive. A good example of this comes froms Star Wars where the message in R2D2 is displayed showing how to destroy the Death Star. At least Luke and the rebels now have a plan to act on. And that is what U am drawing up now.

It seems like whenever I reach that plateau of 6000 words or so, I hit the wall , so to speak, it’s just like the wall a runner hits while running a marathon. You have to have to tough it out and get through it, in order to finish. And thats what I plan on doing. So with that in mind I’m going to bid you guys farewell! So until next time…William out!

Hello fellow writers!

I hope that your evening is going well and that you guys are writing plenty of prose. Just thought I would let you know that my father came home last week and he is doing real well. Thank God for small favors! He has a therapist come at least once a week to help him with the exercise. Once again I thank the Good Lord for making sure that Dad is alive and kicking!

This week I have been writing plot point one in my sci-fi story “A Change in Time.” Now if the “Inciting Incident” is the point where the protagonist is forced to act, then plot point one supplies the story question or goal. Plot point one is at the end of Act one. And is the doorway to the rest of the story.

So plot point one is the point of no return. It is the point where the protagonist is given the motivation and the goal to which he, she or it will strive to achieve. In my case the goal is two fold. The first is to restore the timeline and in so doing achieves the second part which is to restore humanity. The ramifications of failure? No more humanity! Just that alone would give the protagonist enough motivation to get the job done.

So that is what I have been doing along with posting here and my “Cool Quotes Famous Quotes” blog. This week I also wrote some song lyrics. How about that? I haven’t done that in a while. I am letting some ideas stew inside my head regarding the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest that should start pretty soon. And of course I need to do some research as well.

The Wellington Critique group meeting is coming on March 6th. I am getting ready for that occasion as well. I do miss the Boca Raton critique group meetings and I hope that some time soon I will be able to go there. So right now I want to go on and achieve my other writing goals for tonight. So until next time…William out!

happy Valentines Day!

Well it is not quite Valentines Day here yet. But by the time some of guys read this post it will be. So may I wish all those who are in love this day, a wonderful and happy day. You guys deserve it!

Just wanted to tell you guys that my father will be getting out of rehab tomorrow. I know that he is looking very much forward to going home. As I have said in past postings, I am very lucky to still have him around. I am very blessed indeed.

I have been working on my sci-fi story “A Change in Time.” I am making changes to the story based on suggestions from my fellow writers at the Wellington critique group meeting. In fact after I do this posting, I will get on my laptop and do more work.

Also on the list of things to do are…
1. Work on the “How To” book.
2. Write some song lyrics. (I have not done that in a while.)
3. Begin to write some children’s stories for the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories
4. Post a quote to my other wordpress blog, Cool Quotes Famous Quotes.
5. Get some research done so I can submit to other places.

I would like to write about the Inciting incident, whic is what I am sprucing up right now. To me the inciting inciting is a moment in the story where the protagonist ieither forced to c through circumstance or the protagonist (He, she or it.) effects the change. In either case, that is what propels the story to it’ end, I think I given the example Luke Skywalker being perfectly content to farm with his relatives until the Imperial come and kill them, destroying the farm in the process. Luke then joins the rebellion and the rest history. In any case the inciting incident is all about change. That is what I wanted to get across.

Well enough blathering on my part! I have to get back to the work at hand. So until next time…William out!

Good Evening Everyone!

I hope that you guys had a wonderful and safe New Years celebration. And I hope that you guys are enduring the horrible winter weather up in the northern part of the USA and Canada. My thoughts go out to you guys who are surviving the cold and the snow. My friend and critique group leader Caryn reported on Facebook, on how bad the weather is in Maryland. I hope that she will be able to get back home to sunny South Florida safe and soon.

Speaking of my critique group, I was not able to attend my critique group meeting in Wellington Florida. This being due to the fact that I’m still not driving. But I’m working on that, as today I did some practice driving around the local area. My vision has improved in the left eye to the point of my being legal to drive. At least it is much better than the right, which is legally blind. So it comes down to the point where I’m learning to trust and adapt to the vision in the left eye. Which also has some blind spot as well. At least I can still write, and that is a huge blessing from the Good Lord. Thank you Jesus!

Speaking of writing my goals for tonight are pretty simple.
1. Post here on the blog.
2. Work on the “How To” book.
3. If I come up with more storyline ideas for the sci-fi novel then jot and incorporate them into the story.
4. Write some poetry for the poetry chapbook.
5. Come up with some children story ideas for the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest.
6. Learn more about Kindle direct publishing and Create Space.
7. Do some research

Now come to think about it, I have enough goals for the week much less one night. So I think I have it pretty well covered. So I better get to work on it! So until next time… William out!

The New Year is coming!

Like the title said, the new year is coming and I hope that it will be a good one for everyone. As for myself, my goals are fairly simple for the new year.
1. Stay healthy and keep the weight down. (Not easy to do, but with eating right, and achieving my walking goal of a minimum of 9 mikes a week, should do the trick.)
2. Keep my place clean and organized. (Not easy for a writer to do.(I have seen an image of Steven Kings writing quarters, so I don’t feel so bad! He he!))
3. Writing goals are pretty straight forward. Complete my sci-fi story, complete the how to book, work on the poetry chapbook, and last, but not certainly not least, is to post here on the blog, on a regular basis.
4. Anything else that comes up, then get it do it in a timely manner.
5. Do a very good job at work.
6. Do my share of reading and studying Tge writing market, and attend my critique group meetings on a regular basis. (This is where I also get ideas for stories.
7. Compete un next years Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest. (Right now I am coming up with story ideas for Tge contest.)

That about sums it up for me regarding the new year. My next post will be on New Years Eve so look for that! So until then…William out!

Hello fellow writers!

I hope that things are going well with you guys out there. It is now 5 more days until Christmas and I hope that you guys have most of your shopping done, and if not, then good luck to ya! I hope that all the parties you go to will be good and safe. Also make sure you drive safe. A lot of drunks out there and I would hate to lose any of you, especially at this time of year. Listening to the Madonna version of “Santa Baby” on Sunny 107.9. That’s the local station that is playing all Christmas music. It’s pretty good!

I’m on chapter 7 of my sci-fi story “A Change in Time”. I have had a good run of it during the past week or two, with ideas flowing out at a regular rate. So now I’m dreaming up other things that I could get my characters into more trouble. But that is the kind of author I am! If my characters are not in some kind of problem, then it would not be much of a story!

Speaking of stories I’m starting to write a list of children’s stories so that they will be ready to submit to the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest. That contest should start around a May timeframe next year. I look forward to that. And I better get off my horse and start researching the so I can start submitting my work elsewhere. So I had better get cracking Happy Holidays everyone! And so until next time…William out!

Good Morning People!

I hope that your Wednesday morning will be a good one! I have been re-working my sci-fi story “A Change in Time’ for the past few days. It seems like I have been doing this for a long time. But it needs to be done. I have been even toying around with a title change too (A Moment in Time). What do you guys think? Please leave a comment or a suggestion below on the comments link.

I have been listening to Garth Brooks song “If TomorrowNever Comes”. One hell of an emotional song. I highly recommend it if you have a loved one so you can listen to it together and hopefully you can appreciate each other better because of the experience. I have been inspired to write some poetry because of it. It is one hell of a song.

I have also been working on a “how to” book. I know that there are a lot of writers that are just starting out, and just like me, didn’t have a clue about how to go about writing the story. Well this project is going to tell about how to write character, setting sketches and the eight plot points of a three act story. I figure it this way. If I get stuck while writing the sci-fi story, then I could go to the how to project and do some writing there.

And if that doesn’t work out , then maybe I can write some poetry for the poetry chapbook that I may some day publish, or I can certainly post here at WordPress just to let you guys know how I’m doing. Speaking of which I really appreciate you guys reading my drivel. It simply makes me feel like I accomplished something when I post here.

Well enough of my blathering for right now I have to get back to my projects. So until next time…William out!
