Yesterdays critique group meeting…

in Wellington was quite good and though I did not get a chance to read, it was an educational experience. My friend Caryn hosted the meeting. Rik Feeney was the guest speaker at the =vent and he covered a great deal of topics regarding the writing industry as a whole. If you want more information about Rik here is his web site OnlinePublishingSucess.com. You will not go wrong if you go there. There is a lot of good information for up and coming writers. Basically the meeting was very good indeed and my friend Caryn did a great job in hosting it for all of us. Kudos to you Caryn!

Since I did not read my children’s story I will not submit it just yet as I feel the need to sit back and relax a bit and then read over the story and maybe add a few words. Along with that project I created a new title for the next  children’s submission story. Right now I won’t post that title here just in case I would be violating any contest rules. That is last thing that I would need right now is to goof that up!

Well I had better  get on with the other things that I need to do. So until next time…William out!

Very shortly…

I will be going to my critique group meeting in Wellington. Hopefully I will get a chance to read my children’s story I have created for the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest. It is fun writing these stories and so I hope that I do well. Once again I would like to give a shout out to Ron Rauss. I just wanted to thank him for the kind words of encouragement.

I will let you guys know how the meeting went later on today or tomorrow. My plan for tonight is to read the story and get suggestions for improving the story, implement those suggestion where I can, and then submit the story with said improvements. At least that is the plan.

Of course that is depending on the weather again! As of the time of this writing there is a raging thunderstorm overhead. I can hear the thunder and the rain. It is my hope that things will abate come time for me to drive over to the Wellington library. Well I have to for now. So until next time…William out!

Writerly goals…

for this week include posting here, write some more poetry for the chapbook, add some scenes to chapter one of my time travel story, organize the markets that I will be submitting to, reading books in the genre I want to write in. On the last thing I bought some chidren’s books  “Lady Bug Girl” by David Soman and Jackie Davis and old children’s book classic “Goodnight Moon” by Margaret Wise Brown. This is so I can a feel for what is out there. I am also reading “Timeline” by Michael Crichton. Good stories indeed!

When I start typing the next scenes to the time travel story I am just going to let the imagination take me where ever it may go. I have tried mapping out stories and so far it does not seem to be my way of working. Now don’t think I will not try that strategy again in the future because I nevery know when it may work for me!.

But the most important thing is to keep on writing no matter what! Now that I have cast the  demons from my body that made me sick, I will keep on writing! As was once said by a very brave sailor, “Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!” Well that is my motto for the moment. That and eating a Russo’s tuna sub! Umm Umm Yummy! Sometimes you just have to treat yourself in life.

So now I am going to treat myself to some writing! So until next time everyone…William out!

P.S.

Oh and I did forget that at some point I am going to ask info about copywrights information regarding my quotes book. It seems like their several quotes books out there and I would like to join them!

You guys may have noticed…

that I started to do some different things with this blog. Yesterday I posted my 100 word submission to Madison Wood’s flash fiction page. I will be doing that periodically here on my blog. It is fun to enter. Here is the link. All the info that you would need is there.

I had a very good critique group meeting this past Thursday down in Boca Raton. I read my potential story submission for Three Minute Fiction and received good feedback from the group. I must say I am very lucky to be associated with such a good group of talented writers. Caryn is a very good hostess indeed! One of the writers present is Christopher Hawke. Here is a book trailer to his book  Unnatural Truth.

I will be implementing their suggestions as I tweak my story for submission. I have until March 25th to get that done. I should have plenty of time for that. I am still tweaking the sci-fi novel story. I will continue to do that as well.

I am waiting for the next round of Cheerious Spoonful of Stories contest to begin. I have already looked at stories that are geared for the 3 to 8 year range just to see what is being put out there now. So far that looks pretty interesting.

I have been visiting various different sites and I came across Jimmie Kepler’s Blog. This site features many different markets along with their submission guidelines. If you are a writer that does a great deal of searching markets to submit your work then I would suggest that you visit this site. It is quite good indeed. Well that is about it for now. I have to get back to tweaking some storie. So until next time…William out.

Working on my sci-fi story…

going to have the prologue critiqued this next Thursday. I hope that I do well. Tonight I have been outlining the story and brainsstorming  as well.  I wrote another childrens picture book story named “Harry and Lucky”. I hope to submit that story somewhere soon. i am going to continue to write childrens stories so I have them on hand when children story contests come up. I have also been writing some Haiku poems as well. I am waiting on the results of the Three Minute Fiction contest. I think the results will not be known for a little while yet. Here is an example of the Haiku poems that I am writing.

Our love makes us strong.

Our strength is the trust we have,

between each other.

Well that is it for me! Until the next time William out.

Just a quick little note

I thought I would say again that the writer’s night out was quite good! I cerrtainly enjoyed it. Now later on today I will continue working on my projects. I had a bit of writers block yesterday so I took the day off. I might do it again tonight. If I do that tonight my plan will be to do some character creation and to do some reading and studying. In any case I will be getting something done tonight. Well until next time, William out!
