happy Valentines Day!

Well it is not quite Valentines Day here yet. But by the time some of guys read this post it will be. So may I wish all those who are in love this day, a wonderful and happy day. You guys deserve it!

Just wanted to tell you guys that my father will be getting out of rehab tomorrow. I know that he is looking very much forward to going home. As I have said in past postings, I am very lucky to still have him around. I am very blessed indeed.

I have been working on my sci-fi story “A Change in Time.” I am making changes to the story based on suggestions from my fellow writers at the Wellington critique group meeting. In fact after I do this posting, I will get on my laptop and do more work.

Also on the list of things to do are…
1. Work on the “How To” book.
2. Write some song lyrics. (I have not done that in a while.)
3. Begin to write some children’s stories for the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories
Contest,
4. Post a quote to my other wordpress blog, Cool Quotes Famous Quotes.
5. Get some research done so I can submit to other places.

I would like to write about the Inciting incident, whic is what I am sprucing up right now. To me the inciting inciting is a moment in the story where the protagonist ieither forced to c through circumstance or the protagonist (He, she or it.) effects the change. In either case, that is what propels the story to it’ end, I think I given the example Luke Skywalker being perfectly content to farm with his relatives until the Imperial come and kill them, destroying the farm in the process. Luke then joins the rebellion and the rest history. In any case the inciting incident is all about change. That is what I wanted to get across.

Well enough blathering on my part! I have to get back to the work at hand. So until next time…William out!

Good evening people…

It is Wednesday June 26th. Time is 10:34 pm.  I hope that you guys are having a wonderful evening. I know I am. I have been working on some children’s stories to submit to the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest. It has been my main focus for the past month and will continue to be so until July 31st when the contest ends.

Now like I have said before, I will not neglect my other projects as well, but the Cheerios project is such a unique opportunity that one would have to be crazy not make it the primary focus. Of course my other projects are, posting here, making poetry, working on the sci-fi story, posting to Necon E-books, doing research on the WritersMarket website. Always got to do that research to find the next contest or magazine to submit to.

I’m going to miss my critique group buddies over the summer. The last meeting was in Boca Raton and the next one will not be until September. So in the mean time I had better write some good material to be critiqued on. That is my goal at least.

Speaking of goals, I submitted one story to the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest last week. So far I believe that is my best effort though I will continue to submit stories. One of my other goals is to read some of RIk Feeney’s book on how to create a non fiction book. Creating non-fiction does intrigue me as well. He gave a good lecture on the subject about a month back. So I will look into it as well. His idea is to go ahead and write non-fiction books that will help pay the bills until that contract comes in the mail. Now I do like that idea. Not only from a financial stand point but from a marketing one as well.

Now you may ask yourself how would it be beneficial from a marketing standpoint would having a non-fiction book already out there in, lets say, on a Kindle platform? Well let’s say you have a non-fiction book out there that is bringing in some money already and then you get that break through fiction book published.  Using the Kindle platform it would not take long to put an advertising blurb in your non-fiction eBook touting the new fiction book you just published. People would get an email to update that Kindle version of your non=fiction book and then see the advertisement for your new book. Anyway the idea is that you have already established a network where you can advertise to.

Well I have to go on to my other projects…So until next time…William out! Please take people!

Good evening people…

I hope that your Friday evening is going well. Mine certainly is! Especially after The heat won yesterday! It was a hell of a series and must give due resect to the San Antonio Spurs. They gave it everything they had. Hell they were within 20 seconds of winning the title in Game 6. Well the game is not over until the proverbial fat lady sings! Now I hope that the Dolphins will have a good season as well. I think they made some right moves during the off season. Time will tell.

Now on to other things. I attended the Boca Raton Critique Group meeting yesterday. And though the group was small the talent certainly was there. Author Jade Kerrion hosted and she did very well indeed. I got a chance to read my Cheerios Spoonful of Stories submission and it was well received. I was told not to change it. It was perfect the way it was. So that is what I did. I did not change anything and submitted it a short time ago.

That was one of my writing goals tonight along with posting here and working on my other projects. I must tell tell you that I had a lot of fun writing that story. I hope that it does very well. Hell isn’t that what every author feels> I hope so. My other goals are to work on my other children story submissions, work on my poetry,  work on my sci-fi story, do some research into upcoming contests, submit another 100 word story to Necon E-Books. In any case I am gong to keep myself busy. And so on that note, until next time…William out!

Good evening people…

And as I write this post, Game 4 of the NBA Finals are being played and since I am a Heat fan, I will say Go Heat!!!!! Game 4 is going to be a, how would I say it, a gut check game for the Heat if they want to be NBA Champions again. All that work, a 66-16 regular season record which at one time there was a, and I may not be correct on this, 27 game winning streak, all that will be for naught if they don’t pull off winning the championship. So Go Heat!!!! And just as I finish this paragraph the Heat take the lead 27-24 with 48 seconds left in the first quarter. They were behind by as much as 8 points during the quarter.

Now on to my writing… I have been working hard on my children’s stories getting them ready to be submitted to the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest, which by the way ends on July 31st. I haven’t been able to get them read by my critique groups but I hope that will change by next Thursday when we meet in Boca Raton. Then after that one way or another I will start to submit my work.  As of right now I feel very comfortable with a couple of stories and just today I finished a third one. One which I will be doing some re-writing after I’m done with this post.  As they say re-writing is also creating. So create I will!

I have also been working on my sci-fi story “A Change in Time” this week as well using Scrivener. I must say that Scrivener is one hell of a writing program. In my opinion it’s a writers dream program. By the way if you want to check out their web site here is the address. Check the site out and see if you like it. I have been having fun with it and from what I hear these people are working to catch up the windows version of the software with the Mac  version. Use see Scrivener was originally written for the Mac. I like the fact that you can so easily organize you work into files on the program. That is a nice feature along with many others. So Google it and check it out. Well that is about all for now. I have to get back to doing my other writing projects. So as always, until next time…William out!

Going to my…

Critique group meeting tomorrow over at the Wellington library. There will be a very talented group of writers over there reading their work. I hope to be one of them as I would like to get some feedback on my Cheerios Spoonful of Stories submissions. Once I get that feedback I will try to incorporate those suggestions and then start to make submissions.

I have about three stories ready to read and my plan is to read the best two first since I only have 5 minutes to read. Also I’m going to see my friend Leslie Borghini, (The Author of the horror novel, Angel Heat) and my copy of her book signed. She is one very nice lady and a hell of a talented writer! So I’m really glad that I will get a chance to see her again. You can get Angel Heat over on Amazon. For those s horror fans out there…Get the book! You will love it!

Now regarding what I’ve been doing, I have been writing stories for the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest these past few weeks. That’s where my focus has been. Though I have written some poems and tweaked the plot points to my sci-fi story “A Change in Time”, my main focus has been on writing children’s stories.

I have been looking forward to this children’s contest for a couple of years, since last year they didn’t offer it. It’s a wonderful opportunity for an unpublished author to get their writing career started. Plus it’s fun to do. I feel like I accomplished something when I finish one of my stories.
I feel the same way every time I post here as well.

I haven’t started anything with Hubpages yet. I’m still learning what needs to be in order to start writing articles (Hubs as they call them.). As I mentioned before they seem to be a good website to make the “in between money” before that contract comes in the mail. Now wouldn’t that be to have that contract in my mailbox? Well I can dream eh?

Speaking of dreaming I’d better get back to my other writing projects. So until next time…William out!

Starting my immunotherapy today!

It’s going to be a long, long day! So far this week I have written another children’s story for the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest, I will submit these stories soon after the critique group meeting this coming Thursday.

So far I have learning about how to post articles on Hubpages. It is an interesting site and I would like to learn more about it before I start to do anything with it. In my opinion there is somewhat of a learning curve with this. So today I will be looking at that site. I downloaded some books on Hubpages, so I will be looking at them,

I just got through taking the Benadryl and now it’s on to the gamma globulin! You see the cancer (Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma) I was diagnosed with damaged my immune system and so I have to undergo these periodic treatments to fully restore my immune system. It’s a long process but very well needed. Sometimes I have are reaction to the medicine. My immune system doesn’t like getting a kick in the ass, but it needs it!

Writing goals for today consist of posting here, writing some poetry, taking a look at the children’s stories and taking a peek at the sci-fi story! So I had better get moving on this. So until next time…William out!!

Good evening folks!

I hope that your day is going well! Mine sure is! I have been busy writing another Children’s story for the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest along with setting up my Hubpages account. At least that has been my focus these past few weeks, Yesterday I also looked at the plot points for my sci-fi story “A Change in Time!”.

It’s nice to comeback to an unfinished piece of work with fresh eyes. I made a few decisions about the story. You know the drill…what to keep, what to discard, what to change, what to leave alone…fret about this, don’t fret about that. Thats what I love about writing. You never know what is going to happen next.

In two weeks the Wellington critique group will meet at the Wellington library. I do plan on being there early so I can read my Children’s stories that I will submit to the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest. I believe that my stories are very good, but as I said before I would like some feedback before I submit them! To tell you the truth I think they are ready now, but I would like that feedback!

I have been checking out the Hubpages site. Once I’m done setting things up I will start posting articles (Hubs they are called) in the hopes of furthering my writing skills and make some money on the side while waiting for that publishing contract to come in the mail! The site is free to join so check it out! Well it’s been a pleasure writing to you guys, but I have other writing goals to attain, so until next time…William out!

Good evening people!

I trust that you guys are having a wonderful weekend! I know I am! Just thought I would let you guys know that I didn’t attend the Boca Raton critique group meeting. Instead I opted to have dinner with the parents this past Thursday, I will make every effort to be at the Wellington meeting this June 6th, as that will be the last meeting for a couple of months, and I would like to have a couple of my Cheerios Spoonful of Stories submissions critiqued.

Basically I have been working on the children’s contest for the past few days, Sometimes I would do well and then there are times when that ugly writer’s block would rear it’s head and just like any pro athlete that has nagging injuries, I work through it! I haven’t forgotten my sci-fi novel, though it is somewhat on the back burner right now until the children’s contest is over. Boy it would be real nice if I won that!

I have been writing some poetry as well! I swore I would write at least a minimum of three a night , but that can be difficult if I was to write conventional poetry. Enter Haiku ideas! And that is how I achieve the poetry goals.

I’m still checking out Hubpages. I haven’t done anything with them yet until I know more about the taxes that I would need to pay. This would be both income and Social Security taxes. I want to do this right so I’m taking my time on that. And speaking of time…I need to get back to the other writing projects. So until next time…William out!

Hello everyone!

It is early morning at the time of this writing, I hope that you guys are doing well and writing often! This Thursday I will be attending the Boca Raton critique group meeting and I hope to get a chance to read my children’s story. I would like to get some feedback before I submit the story to the Cheerios Spoonful of Stories contest. Once I get the feedback I will incorporate the suggestions into the story and then submit the story. After that I will work on the next children’s story and submit that too!

These past few days I’ve been looking and learning about Hubpages.com. This a website that is comprised of a large community of writer’s writing about things they are passionate about and possibly getting paid for doing that via Google Adsense, and various different affiliate programs. This site was brought to my attention by a Mr. Rik Feeney who was the guest speaker at the Wellington critique group meeting. The ideas being is to find means of extra income or revenue while you’re waiting for that publishing contract to come in the mail.

I did a little research about Hubpages.com on Wikipedia and found that the site is ranked in the top 50 sites for traffic in the entire website world. Not bad if you want to earn a little cash from Google Adsense while writing about something you’ll feel passionate about. I’m learning how to setup a good profile page and shortly after that I will publish my first hub (article).

Still working on the sci-fi story as well. That is a one day at a time proposition, but that is coming along as well. I’m still putting together that poetry chapbook as well. I hope to have about one hundred of them soon. Poems that is!

It’s getting late now, or should I say earlier in the morning, so I’m going to have to go. So until next time…William out!

I have been working on my…

Cheerios Spoonful of Stories submission these past few days and I believe it’s ready to be submitted. Still though I would like a fresh set of eyes and ears to take a look at it before I submit I’d like to get someone else’s unbiased take and input on it. Which is why I think I will wait until after next weeks critique group meeting in Boca Raton to make my submission.

In the meantime I could start on another story and get it ready to be read as well. That way I could kill two birds with one stone! Yeah I think that’s what I will do! There really is no hurry to submit as I have until the end of July, and I would like to be able to submit the best work possible. So for right now my goals are to tweak the first story and get to work on the second!

Now I haven’t worked much on the sci-fi story as of late, but that is a good thing, because I can come back to that refreshed. Besides, “Star Trek: Into The Darkness” will be in theaters next week and maybe that will fuel the creative fires in me! And speaking of fueling the fires, I had better get back to writing! So until next time…William out!
